High pressure has given the Finger Lakes a cold start Thursday morning, but bright sunshine will help temperatures rebound this afternoon.

Afternoon highs may still fall just short of normal, but only by a couple of degrees, unlike Wednesday’s chilly weather. Highs Thursday will reach into the low and maybe mid 60s across the Finger Lakes. Skies will remain sunny with light winds, resulting in an overall pleasant day.

High pressure overhead today will slide east for Friday, putting us in the southerly return flow on the back side of the high. This should help temperatures rise closer to 70º Friday afternoon.

Clouds, and eventually some rain will also move in late Friday as a push of even warmer air moves north. Along with the warmer air, the humidity will increase this weekend as a frontal boundary sets up over-top of our region. This front will also serve as the focal point for some showers and thunderstorms, especially on Saturday.
