Friday and Saturday will have some great late summer weather in the Finger Lakes before a chance for much needed rain on Sunday.

Great Weather Friday & Saturday

Both Friday and Saturday will be very nice days across the Finger Lakes.

Skies will start out mostly clear in the morning before some fair weather clouds develop by the early afternoon hours. Both afternoons will keep a mix of sun and clouds until late in the day. On Friday, the skies will clear by the evening, while on Saturday, high clouds will start to move in. Overcast skies will gradually take over Saturday night.

No precipitation is expected on either Friday or Saturday with high pressure passing through the area.

Temperatures and humidity levels will be summery, but not too hot and muggy. Friday will be very pleasant, with highs mostly in the low and mid 80s. Saturday will be a bit warmer, with most places in the mid to upper 80s. A few areas in and around Rochester, however, could reach 90 degrees.

Stormy Sunday

On Sunday, however, precipitation is likely. A strong cold front will move through the region, triggering widespread showers and thunderstorms.

The most likely time for rain on Sunday will be during the afternoon hours, but the exact timing of the front is still a bit uncertain.

With clouds in place throughout the day, temperatures are only expected to rise into the 70s. The lack of substantial heating will likely reduce any severe threat to just an isolated strong wind gust or two.

Heavy rain will accompany some of these storms. Most areas should see around half to three-quarters of an inch of rain on Sunday. A few locations will likely miss out and get less, and a few heavier thunderstorms could dump a quick one to two inches.

Finger Lakes Events Forecast

Here is the specific forecast for a couple of the events going on in the region this weekend:

Steuben County Fair

The Steuben County Fair has been going on since Tuesday and wraps up on Sunday. Beginning in 1819, it is the oldest continually running fair in the United States! Friday and Saturday look like great days, with highs around 83 degrees and 86 degrees respectively. Sunday will likely see a rainy period during the afternoon, but the day probably will not be a total washout. > Full Forecast for Bath, NY
