Drizzle and Flurries Linger

An area of widespread, but light precipitation will pull out of the Finger Lakes this morning, but dreary weather will persist for the next couple of days.

The widespread precipitation, which is falling as both rain and snow across the area early Monday morning, is the result of an ill-defined disturbance tracking through the Mid-Atlantic states.

Most of the steady precipitation is already pulling out of the Finger Lakes, but rain showers and flurries will linger through the morning hours.

Once the precipitation stops, for the most part at least, clouds will remain in place with little to no sunshine expected Monday.

Additional showers and flurries will develop tonight southeast of Lake Ontario across much of the Finger Lakes region. This precipitation will be very light.

The clouds, drizzle, and flurries will persist throughout Tuesday before finally coming to an end Tuesday evening as winds swing around to the south.

Temperatures will reach the low 40s today across the northern Finger Lakes while the Southern Tier reaches the mid 40s. Tuesday’s highs will hover around 40 degrees.

Front Cycles Through Mid-Week

The shift to southerly winds Tuesday evening will be the start of new weather cycle as a frontal system approaches and then moves through the Finger Lakes.

Skies should at least partly clear Tuesday night, but the south wind will keep temperatures from falling too far into the 20s. A little sun may make a brief appearance Wednesday morning before clouds move in from the west.

Temperatures could push 50 degrees Wednesday afternoon across a few parts of the northern Finger Lakes while areas further south only manage the mid 40s.

Rain will move in Wednesday evening and should persist through much of Thursday. A little wet snow may mix in before the precipitation comes to an end Thursday evening.

The cycle will complete with clearing skies Thursday night into Friday before more clouds work in late Friday.

Temperatures Thursday will fall through the 40s as the front moves through while Friday settles in around 40 degrees.
