Absolutely. Please make your check out to Finger Lakes Weather and mail it to P.O. Box 326, Groton, NY 13073. Please indicate whether or not you would like to be sent a monthly reminder to donate.
What other sources of funding do you have?
Monthly donors are just one part of my business plan. I also sell advertising space on FLXWeather.com and have paying clients who need specific information or media creation.
Are my donations tax-deductable?
No. Finger Lakes Weather is not a non-profit organization. Your donations, while very much appreciated, cannot be written off on your taxes.
What will my money be used for?
Monthly donations will first be used to fill any gaps in my family’s living expenses not covered by sponsors and clients. Any extra donation money will be invested back into Finger Lakes Weather for new equipment, technology, and advertising.
What are your credentials?
I graduated from SUNY Oswego in 2011 with my Bachelors of Science with Honors in Meteorology. I then spent four years at Cornell University studying the impacts of the Finger Lakes on the temperatures across vineyards, earning my Masters of Science in Atmospheric Sciences with a minor in Geographic Information Systems. I have been publicly forecasting the weather online since 2006, when I created my first website, Grotonweather.com. Finger Lakes Weather began in 2012 with private forecasts for clients and began offering public weather forecasting services in 2014.
How much time will you spend on Finger Lakes Weather?
Finger Lakes Weather will be my full-time job, meaning I will spend at least 40 hours a week updating and enhancing Finger Lakes Weather. During times of active weather, and while working on major projects, 50-70 hour weeks are not unreasonable expectations. I live and breathe weather, after all!
