2026 FLX Weather Donor Survey
Thank you for supporting Finger Lakes Weather!
The 2026 Donor Survey is now closed. Thank you for your responses.
At the beginning of February, I passed the 20-year mark of providing local weather information for the Finger Lakes region.
A lot has changed in 20 years... in the world, professionally, and personally.
Over the last year, I've made several changes to Finger Lakes Weather, some more noticeable than others:
- Automated severe weather warning posts
- "Ask Drew" feature to consolidate and streamline question answering
- Updated email and snow map templates
- Adding the evening Weather Planner posts
- Revamping the format of the morning outlook posts
Some of these were things I had planned and hoped to implement for years... others were much more spur-of-the-moment reactions to overwhelming feedback.
Traditionally, I survey my donor base every 1-3 years. It is important to me that those who are financially invested in Finger Lakes Weather are the ones that get to help shape it.
My services evolve based on community needs and my capacity to deliver them well. This survey will help me understand how you use FLX Weather so I can continue making thoughtful decisions about what to prioritize. I greatly appreciate your feedback.
» Survey data will be collected through Sunday, February 15, 2026
A couple of quick definitions/examples:
- The question "How often do you get your weather information from FLX Weather's social media posts without clicking through to the website/app?" is referring to times where you ONLY view my weather forecasts via social media. You do not click the post to read more, go to the website or mobile app, or seek out additional information from me via Ask Drew or email. You see the social media post, use only the information it presents, perhaps leave a comment or reaction, and then move on.
- EXTENDED OUTLOOK posts refers to posts I make on weekday mornings which focus on the next 7-10 days of weather. Example: https://flxweather.com/2026/02/11/temperatures-take-a-small-dip-with-some-snow-then-rise-further/
- WEATHER PLANNER posts refers to posts I make in the evening, (though you may read them in the morning) which focus solely on the weather for the coming day. Example: https://flxweather.com/2026/02/10/weather-planner-wednesday-february-11-2026/
- ZIP CODE FORECASTS are location specific forecasts for the next 24 hours, broken into three time segments. These are found on the FLX Weather website at flxweather.com/your-town (Example: flxweather.com/ithaca) AND on the mobile app as the main feature on the home screen. (See example screenshot here)
- ASK DREW is a question-and-answer service found at flxweather.com/ask-drew
