Evening Weather Forecast: March 6 transcript

This is Finger Lakes Weather meteorologist Drew Montreuil with your Monday evening weather forecast update for March 6th, 2017.

A warm front developing over the Finger Lakes will become the focal point for increasing chances for rain as warm, moist air from the south tries to work northward. Radar is showing some shower activity currently over western Pennsylvania that will drift northeast towards the Finger Lakes this evening. Some of those showers will be scattered about tonight, but more widespread rain should begin to develop after midnight.

This rain will persist into Tuesday morning with some heavier downpours possible in time for the morning commute. Temperatures will easily stay warm enough for this precipitation to fall as rain, with surface temperatures in the 40s and even warmer air aloft.

Rain showers will continue throughout Tuesday, possibly tapering some during the midday hours before reintensifying for the afternoon and evening.

Be sure to check back in the morning for more updates on the rain as well as the return of gusty winds.
