An area of low pressure will cross the area on Friday with a brief boost in temperatures and widespread midday and afternoon rain. South winds will turn blustery for a time during the midday and early afternoon. Lighter, north winds will return Friday night with temperatures falling back into the 30s.

Rain gradually spreading across the northern half of the region.

Southeast winds 5-10 mph.

Temperatures rising to around 40 degrees.

Midday (11 AM-1 PM)

Cloudy.

Rain spreading across the rest of the region.

South winds 15-20 mph. Gusts to 35 mph.

Temperatures rising to the mid and upper 40s.

Afternoon (1-5 PM)

Cloudy.

Steady rain, tapering to showers late.

Southwest winds gradually reducing to around 10 mph.

Temperatures in the upper 40s to around 50 degrees.

Late Afternoon (5-7 PM)

Cloudy.

Scattered rain showers.

Winds turning to the west and then north with speeds of 5-10 mph.

Temperatures dipping to the mid and upper 40s.

Evening (7-10 PM)

Cloudy.

A few stray showers or some drizzle.

North winds around 5 mph.

Temperatures falling, ranging from the mid 30s north of the Thruway to the mid 40s in the Southern Tier.
