With their midday update, the Storm Prediction Center trimmed back on their Slight Risk area for severe thunderstorms this afternoon.
While the entire region is at risk for an isolated strong storm, the greatest chance will be south over Pennsylvania, possibly extending north into parts of Allegany, Steuben, Schuyler, and Chemung counties.
As I’ve been saying all along, this is not expected to be a widespread event with just a couple locally strong winds capable of some tree damage or sporadic power outages.
The late afternoon remains the prime window for stronger storms. The showers on radar now will move off to the east and new activity should develop through the afternoon.
