Minutes after posting my last update, the Storm Prediction Center did indeed issue a Severe Thunderstorm Watch.

Cortland, Tioga, Tompkins, Schuyler, and Chemung counties locally are included in the watch.

Localized damaging winds and some hail are the main severe thunderstorm threats, not counting the heavy rain and flash flood threat.

This watch goes until 8 PM.
