Big Jump in Temperatures Tuesday

Tuesday morning is getting off to a frosty start, with many areas seeing frost and freeze conditions under clear skies and calm winds.

The heart of the Finger Lakes is, not surprisingly, the warmest, while portions of the Southern Tier are the coldest.

As the sun rises, a gentle southerly wind will begin to develop over the region. Combined with sunny skies, this should result in a large jump in temperature today.

In fact, many ares should see about a 30 to 35 degree rise in temperature between this morning and this afternoon. High temperatures will be in the low and mid 60s. Believe it or not, this is slightly above normal for mid October.

Temperatures Tuesday night will not be nearly as cold, with lows mostly in the 40s thanks to the southerly wind and some periods of cloudiness. Wednesday should be sunny and very warm, with highs into the 70s for some areas.
