Daylight Savings Time Ends

In a sure sign of impending winter, Daylight Savings Time comes to an end tonight.

Technically, the time shift occurs early Sunday morning at 2am. For most of us, that means setting the clocks back one hour before heading to bed Saturday night.

Daylight Savings Time also offers an opportunity to regularly check your smoke alarm and carbon monoxide alarm batteries, so take a few minutes to do that as well.

The time shift will make the sunrise and sunset an hour earlier than we are used to. While this will give some extra light in the morning, the sun will now begin to set before 5pm.

The days will continue to get shorter until the Winter Solstice on December 21.
