Evening Weather Forecast: February 27 transcript

This is Finger Lakes Weather meteorologist Drew Montreuil with your Monday evening weather forecast update for February 27th, 2017.

It did not take long for the warm air to return to the Finger Lakes with many places reaching or exceeding 50 degrees today. Warm weather will continue to move into the Finger Lakes as the southerly flow strengthens ahead of the next storm system. That will also mean some rain in the forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday, along with wind and another small chance for gusty thunderstorms.

So, for tonight, temperatures will drop back through the 40s and into the 30s. Clouds will increase and a few showers will enter the picture after midnight. A little wet snow may mix in, but mostly rain should fall. Rain showers will depart early Tuesday morning but will return for the afternoon and especially the evening hours. Temperatures Tuesday will push into the mid 50s during the afternoon and should drop little Tuesday night. Showers will continue into Wednesday when the potential for some thunderstorms will have to be watched.

If you plan to be in the Cortland area on Tuesday evening, stop by the Cortland Beer Company on Court Street for Science and Suds at 7 pm. I will be presenting a new talk titled ‘Weather or Not- Forecasting in the Finger Lakes during the 21st Century’. I would love to meet you, so be sure to say hi! I hope you have a great night tonight.
