Frost concerns as Finger Lakes remain cold this week

finger lakes weather forecast frost cold
Wednesday morning will likely be the coldest across the Finger Lakes as skies clear.

Cold temperatures will continue this week in the Finger Lakes with multiple chances for frost.

Frost Chances in the Finger Lakes

Well below normal temperatures continue across the Finger Lakes and will be locked in place well into this week.

Cloudy skies kept most of the region from having a hard freeze over the weekend. That should generally be true once again on Tuesday morning, with lows similar to Monday and Sunday mornings in the mid 30s.

The highest chance for frost will come Wednesday morning as skies clear at least partially late Tuesday and Tuesday night. Most of the Finger Lakes region will drop to or below 32 degrees with some of the colder outlying areas slipping into the upper 20s.

Morning lows will moderate towards the end of the week, with mid 30s Thursday morning and upper 30s to near 40 degrees on Friday morning.

Much Drier This Week

The weather as a whole will be slightly improved over last week, despite the continued cool temperatures.

The area of low pressure that has been plaguing the region since last Thursday will keep conditions unsettled for Monday and a bit of Tuesday before it finally dissipates.

Expect some showers both days, especially during the afternoon on Monday and morning on Tuesday. Precipitation amounts should not amount to very much on either day, and a few more snowflakes may show up.

Precipitation will be unlikely from Tuesday afternoon, through Wednesday and Thursday, and for much of Friday. During this time, there will be some sun, but clouds will continue to at least mix with the sunshine.

Afternoon highs will be stuck in the upper 40s Monday and Tuesday but should reach 50 on Wednesday with upper 50s to near 60 on Thursday and Friday.

There are signs of much warmer weather next week.
