Cold Front Tuesday

A cold front will cross the Finger Lakes on Tuesday, touching off a couple of scattered rain showers.

Many areas will not see any rain as the front moves through. The few showers that do develop will start out near Lake Ontario during the mid and late morning hours before drifting further south during the midday and early afternoon.

For areas in the Southern Tier near and east of Elmira, a couple rumbles of thunder may even develop.

Rain amounts where it does manage to rain will be barely measurable in most cases.

Outside of the showers, skies will be a mix of clouds and some sun. Temperatures should reach into the low and perhaps mid 80s before the front’s cooler air begins to work in.

Overnight temperatures will drop back into the 60s.

Temperatures Trend Back Up

Wednesday will turn out to be a rather pleasant day, though there will be a bit of a breeze from the north.

That north wind will keep temperatures a bit cooler, but there is no big cold air mass behind today’s front, so temperatures will simply hover near seasonal norms.

Expect high temperatures Wednesday to be in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees.

The breeze dies down on Thursday as high pressure moves overhead. Temperatures will be a couple degrees warmer, mostly in the low 80s.

By Friday, south winds on the backside of the high will start to warm things up more substantially. Temperatures Friday will be similar to what we had on Monday, with highs around 90 degrees but with low humidity levels.

Temperatures will probably drop some on Saturday with a few more scattered showers but return to the upper 80s or 90s Sunday and or Monday.
