Blustery winds will slowly decrease on Tuesday but temperatures will be stuck in the 20s with a few lake effect snow showers. Temperatures will moderate back to the low 40s by Thursday with the next reasonable chance for widespread precipitation not coming until the weekend.

Tuesday

What: Gusty morning winds, a few snow showers

Impacts: Gusts as high as 40 mph, wind chills in the 0s and 10s

West winds will gust between 30-40 mph through the midday hours, then gradually decrease this afternoon. Temperatures will only rise a few degrees with highs in the low and mid 20s. Lake effect snow showers will be possible from time to time, but like the wind, should decrease as the day goes on. Some clearing is expected late this afternoon into tonight.

Wednesday

What: Sun and clouds, light winds

A tranquil day is expected on Wednesday with a light south wind and some sunshine helping push temperatures to the mid 30s. It will be a chilly morning with lows in the 10s. An increase in clouds and the steady light south wind will hold nighttime temperatures around 30 degrees.

Thursday and Friday

What: Mostly cloudy, a few spits of precipitation

Both Thursday and Friday will have plenty of cloud cover and a small chance for an occasional spit of precipitation. None of the precipitation is expected to be widespread, long lasting, or heavy. Some areas may not see any at all during this time. There is still enough uncertainty, though, that there may end up being some identifiable times where precipitation may be more likely than others. Temperatures will remain in the 30s at night and 40s during the day with light and variable winds.

Saturday

What: A few rain showers; Warmer

A warm front will bring a few more rain showers through on Saturday, followed by some breezy but not-too-strong southerly winds. Temperatures should make it well into the 40s. If the front comes through early enough and some sun comes out, a few places could make a run at the 50s.

Sunday

What: Rain to late snow

A cold front will follow on Sunday with rain showers possibly turning to some snow late. The timing of the front remains unclear, which will impact the temperatures and precipitation type. The precipitation may be a bit steadier than over previous days, but still does not look overly heavy. Winds will turn to the north with similar speeds as Saturday.

Next Week

Temperatures will be at their coldest on Monday behind Sunday’s front. After that, temperatures should moderate, peaking with another brief warm up late in the week. That warm up will be associated with a passing weather system, the details of which are uncertain this far out. However, it looks as though that system will be the primary weather maker next week with generally quiet conditions otherwise.
