Tuesday will be cold and windy with snow showers, but temperatures will warm under sunny skies Wednesday into Thursday. A cold front Friday will bring some rain showers and a brief retreat in temperatures before even warmer air will be possible.

Tuesday

What: Snow showers, gusty winds

An area of low pressure is passing by the region today. Gusty northwest winds and on-and-off snow showers are accompanying the low. Snow accumulations will be limited to a coating or so on grassy and other cold surfaces, mainly this morning. The wind, which will gust over 30 mph through the early afternoon, will hold temperatures to the low 30s. Winds die out tonight and skies will become clear, allowing temperatures to fall well into the 20s overnight.

Wednesday

What: Sunny, warmer.

A light south wind will blow on Wednesday. Combined with almost totally clear, sunny skies, temperatures will rebound from the cold start. Highs will reach the upper 40s to near 50 for most, though some cooler and warmer pockets will both be possible in their usual areas. The south wind will become stronger after sunset, holding temperatures in the upper 30s and low 40s overnight.

Thursday

What: Sunny, thin clouds. Breezy.

The south wind will remain blustery into Thursday, pushing temperatures to around 60 degrees. Some thin clouds will enter in, mixing with the sunshine at times. Overall, it should still be a very sunny day, though. Thursday night will be mild with lows in the 40s despite winds decreasing.

Friday

What: Scattered showers, especially late.

A cold front will drop south across the region on Friday. This may be one of the less common instances where the bulk of the precipitation comes behind the main front. Scattered showers and light rain is expected, especially in the latter half of the day. Heavy rain is not expected with rainfall amounts most likely sticking around or under a quarter of an inch. Temperatures are a bit tricky to figure out still with the front coming through, and they may end up falling during the afternoon.

Saturday

What: Sunny.

Saturday will turn out similar to Wednesday with nearly clear skies and highs around 50 degrees. A light northwest wind will blow behind Friday’s front.

Sunday

What: Sun and clouds, warmer.

Temperatures will start their rebound on Sunday. If Saturday is like Wednesday, Sunday will be close to Thursday with sun and some thin clouds. Winds will be lighter and temperatures warmer, though, with highs in the mid 60s.

Next Week

Temperatures will start the week warm with highs possibly reaching the 70s Monday and Tuesday. A weather system will likely come through during the middle of the week. Depending on its timing, Wednesday could end up warm as well, but temperatures will drop shortly thereafter. Rain and possibly some thunderstorms will be likely as cooler air moves in with highs returning to the 40s and/or 50s late in the week and next weekend.
