Temperatures will be much cooler for the rest of the week thanks to a cold front this morning. Another weather systems will move through this weekend, with widespread heavy rain on Saturday and some lingering scattered showers Sunday and possibly Monday.
Wednesday
What:Â Scattered morning showers
A cold front is moving through the region Wednesday morning, but is moving a bit slower than originally expected. This will not have much impact on the forecast for today, other than to extend the chances for some stray, light rain showers into the midday or early afternoon hours. Rain amounts will be very light. Some sun will try to poke out between clouds this afternoon. Temperatures will drop to around 60 degrees with the frontal passage, then rise to the low and mid 60s this afternoon. Northwest winds will be around 10 mph. Tonight will be quiet with some thin overcast and lows in the mid 40s.
Thursday
What:Â Sunny, cool
Winds will be out of the north on Thursday with steady but light speeds. Skies will be sunny with a few thin clouds. Despite the sun, highs will only make it to the mid 50s. Clear skies and calm winds Thursday night will send lows into the low 40s. Frost does not look like it will be a concern, though it cannot be 100% ruled out in the coldest of the cold pockets.
Friday
What:Â Increasing clouds
Friday will be quiet with sunshine gradually becoming filtered by increasing thin clouds. Winds will be light from the east and southeast with highs in the mid 60s. Overnight temperatures will be propped up by thickening cloud cover, with lows reaching the upper 40s to the south and low 50s to the north.
Saturday
What:Â Rainy
The main chance for rain over the next 7 days will be on Saturday, with chances for a washout of a day becoming high. Many areas will see between 1-2 inches throughout the daytime and evening hours. The rain will start early and end late. Temperatures will change little with the rain, struggling into the low and perhaps mid 50s.
Sunday
What: Scattered showers
Sunday’s weather is still a bit uncertain as Saturday’s system lingers around, but it should not be nearly the washout Saturday will be. In fact, there is a chance that the shower activity may remain fairly limited and some areas may sneak through the day with little to no rainfall. Temperatures will bounce back a bit, reaching the mid 60s.
Memorial Day (Monday)
What: A few showers
Memorial Day may also have a few lingering showers about, but should generally be fairly dry, especially in the afternoon. The fine details, of course, are still a bit uncertain this far out, though. Temperatures should continue to rise with highs around 70 degrees.
Tuesday & Next Week
What: Sun and clouds
Tuesday looks quiet and mild with sun and clouds and a high slightly above 70 degrees. The following days will likely be similar, with temperatures settling in close to the seasonal averages and rain becoming uncommon for a time. This general pattern is favored to continue into early June, though there will likely be some day-to-day variability that shows up within the broader pattern.
