Thursday
What: Scattered showers and storms.
The morning and early afternoon hours should be dry with a mix of sun and clouds. Showers and thunderstorms will develop quickly during between 3-5 PM along a southwest to northeast line that should nearly split the region in two. These showers and storms will then slowly move east for the late afternoon. The northwestern half of the region may not see much rain today, but most areas to the southeast will. The exact dividing line is uncertain.
Any storms will be capable of torrential downpours and maybe a few stronger wind gusts. The storms will move east before sunset and die off shortly thereafter.
It will be humid with dewpoints around 70 degrees. Afternoon highs should make it into the low and locally mid 80s. Winds will be light from the southwest around 5 mph.
Friday
What: Scattered showers and storms.
Another round of showers and storms should pop up on Friday, possibly focusing most of the rain over the southern half of the region. As usual, the afternoon hours will be favored. Winds will be light, under 5 mph, which could lead to slow-moving storms. If any areas see heavy rain both Thursday and Friday, there could be some minor flooding concerns. It will remain very humid with highs in the low 80s.
Saturday
What: Scattered showers and storms.
Showers and a few thunderstorms will again be possible on Saturday. Overall, the threat for rain looks a bit lower, but uncertainty remains. The afternoon will once again be the time to watch for rain and thunderstorms. Also, like Thursday and Friday, locally heavy downpours may lead to some minor flooding. Warm, muggy conditions will persist with highs in the low 80s and dewpoints near 70. Winds will pick up a bit from the southwest, but will remain under 10 mph.
Sunday
What: A few showers early.
Stray showers will be possible on Sunday, mainly during the morning hours as a cold front slides through. Not all areas will see rain, and those that do should only see minimal rain amounts. Dewpoints will slowly drop through the day, ending up in the low and mid 60s late. Temperatures will still reach the low 80s with a light northwest breeze.
Monday
What: Perhaps some showers.
Some pop-up showers look possible on Monday, mixing with areas of sunshine. Any rain looks light and brief. Afternoon highs will be in the low 80s with dewpoints creeping back up into the upper half of the 60s. Winds will be from the southwest at 5-10 mph.
Tuesday
What: Periods of rain.
A cold front will pass through the area on Tuesday. The timing of the front will determine how the day unfolds. An early frontal passage will lead to some morning showers and clearing afternoon skies, but a later passage could lead to a washout of a day. The rainier scenarios are currently favored, but uncertainty is high.
Either way, temperatures will likely be held to the upper 70s. Humidity will be high until the front comes through, whenever that may be. Winds may be a bit gusty at times, starting southerly then turning to the northwest.
Wednesday
What: Sun and clouds.
In the wake of Tuesday’s front, Wednesday should be quiet with a mix of sun and clouds and lower humidity. Highs will be in the mid and upper 70s with a light northwest wind.
Later Next Week
A quick moving weather system may impact the area Thursday into early Friday. Dry weather is favored for the weekend, but is not yet a certainty. Temperatures will be on the cooler side with highs in the lower half of the 70s.
