The frontal boundary that has been the focal point for active weather the last few days, including last night’s severe thunderstorm complex, is shifting to the south. This will lead to a gradual reduction in temperature, humidity, and rain chances over the next two days. The holiday weekend may have a couple of stray spits of rain, this time from low pressure north of New England, but most of the time will be dry. Monday and early next week will also be dry and sunny with temperatures starting to rebound slightly before an unsettled end to next week.

Thursday
What: A couple stray showers. Some nighttime rain possible.
While the bulk of today’s active weather will stretch from the Midwest to the Mid-Atlantic, the front is still near enough that a couple stray showers cannot be ruled out, particularly over the southern half of the region. There should be some breaks of sunshine throughout the day, too, though. Dewpoints will be a bit lower, but still on the muggy side in the mid and upper 60s. Afternoon highs will be in the upper 70s and low 80s.
Our area may be clipped by another storm complex tonight, though only by the rain with storms expected to stay south in Pennsylvania. This complex as a whole will also pale in comparison to last night’s storms. An hour or two of rain may fall as a result, mainly over the southwestern half of the region. Overnight lows will be in the mid 60s.
Friday
What: Sun and clouds.
Friday should be dry, though still, a stray spit of rain cannot be totally ruled out. It is far more likely that any given area does not see any rain at all, though. Dewpoints will retreat to the low 60s and highs to the mid 70s. Clearing skies overnight, with areas of valley fog, will lead to temperatures in the upper 50s to near 60 degrees overnight.
Saturday
What: Sun and clouds.
Northerly winds will set up on Saturday with speeds increasing to around 10 mph. This will bring in cooler air with highs around 70 degrees. Many higher elevations will stick to the 60s. The cool air mass will lead to a couple stray pop-up showers associated with low pressure far to our northeast. Most of the showers may end staying to the northeast, too, and many parts of the region will probably be dry. Dewpoints will be low and comfortable, down into the 50s. Saturday night will be clear with valley fog and lows ranging through the 50s.
Sunday
What: Sun and clouds.
Sunday will be similar to Saturday, only with an even lower chance for stray showers. I arguably could have kept the raindrop icon out of the 7-day graphic. Winds will remain from the north, but will be a bit lighter than on Saturday. Highs will be in the upper 60s and low 70s, with overnight lows in the lower half of the 50s.
Monday (Labor Day)
What: Sun and clouds.
Labor Day looks sunny and dry with temperatures starting to rebound. Expect highs in the mid 70s with humidity levels remaining low. Monday night will range through the 50s.
Tuesday
What: Sun and clouds.
Tuesday should also be dry and mild, and all in all quite similar to Monday. Highs will be in the mid 70s. Overnight lows will be around 60 degrees.
Wednesday
What: Sun and clouds.
The next batch of unsettled weather may be approaching by Wednesday, but for now, most models keep the day dry. A developing southerly flow will nudge temperatures upward.
Late Next Week
Unsettled weather looks more likely later next week, but may clear out by the weekend. Details are sketchy at best this far in advance. A shot of cool air will build in behind that with multiple days with highs in the 60s possible.
