Several more days of warm temperatures around or above 70 degrees are likely this week before cooler air pushes back into the region. Rain showers will be possible on several upcoming days, but rain amounts will be minimal.

Tuesday
What: Clouds, some sun
Most of today will be cloudy, though some sun should start to poke through in the afternoon. A few showers dot the radar this morning, but no meaningful rain will fall. Southerly winds will persist with slightly higher speeds than yesterday, but staying under 10 mph. The south winds will continue to support warm temperatures, even with the increase in clouds. Temperatures should be similar to Monday with upper 60s and low 70s commonplace, though some areas east of Cayuga Lake may only see mid 60s. Skies should clear tonight, but steady south winds will keep temperatures in the 50s.
Wednesday
What: Sun and clouds
Wednesday should turn out quite sunny. There will still be clouds, but many of them will be thin and insignificant. The later in the day it gets, the greater the chance for a slight increase in clouds. South winds will persist with speeds around 10 mph, bringing afternoon highs up a couple degrees. Most areas should be near or above 70 degrees. Clouds will increase overnight and southerly winds will persist, keeping temperatures around 60 degrees. A few showers may work into the area, especially as dawn approaches.
Thursday
What:Â Morning rain showers
A cold front will bring rain showers to the area, especially during the morning hours. There will be numerous showers, so most areas should see rain. However, it will be light, sporadic rain, so rain amounts will be meager and almost no help with the recent dryness. South and southwest winds will be breezy and will persist into the afternoon. Eventually, the front will pass through, mainly reducing wind speeds and perhaps briefly disrupting the southerly direction. As such, it will remain very warm with highs around 70 degrees. Nighttime temperatures will fall into the low and mid 50s as skies become partly cloudy.
Friday
What: Sun and clouds
There should be a fair amount of sunshine on Friday mixing with occasional clouds. South winds will be back in place, but light. It will not be as warm as the other days this week, but highs will still make it into the mid 60s. Nighttime temperatures will fall back to the mid 40s.
Saturday
What: Scattered showers
Another cold front looks possible on Saturday with scattered showers. Like Thursday, the rain looks sporadic and light with only meager amounts falling. Temperatures will come down another notch with highs in the 50s and overnight lows around 40 degrees.
Sunday
What: Sun and clouds
Sunday looks dry with a mix of sun and clouds, though confidence is low enough that this could still shift to more clouds or perhaps a few showers. Temperatures will top out in the low and mid 50s with nighttime temperatures in the upper 30s.
Monday
What: A few morning showers
Monday may bring a few more rain showers, but these should be even more insignificant than anything that falls Thursday or Saturday. Temperatures will be in the lower half of the 50s.
Next Week
A couple more weak weather systems may pass through next week with showers but no meaningful rain. Temperatures will generally stay on the cooler side with highs in the 50s or perhaps upper 40s.

Drew, do you have any thoughts on the El Nino and how it may affect us?
Meteorologist Drew Montreuil
Not really, no. Seasonal forecasting isn’t something I do. El Ninos in our area can have completely opposite results, so there isn’t much to say as a blanket statement, either. You can see what the Climate Prediction Center is saying, though the track record of accuracy is pretty paltry. http://www.cpc.noaa.gov
