3 PM Update- Storms moving across state line

Thunderstorm activity over north-central Pennsylvania has increased over the last 2 hours and is beginning to cross into New York State.

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for southern Tioga County, set to expire at 3:15 PM. Additional warnings may be needed for this cell, which has a history of at least some small hail.

These storms are on the leading, northeastern edge of a larger area of moderate to heavy rain that is expanding as it moves northward.

Over the next hour, more of the Southern Tier will begin to see rain while possibly severe thunderstorms head north-northeast further into Tioga County.

Additional showers are also starting to pop up across Steuben, Livingston, Ontario, and Wayne county. These should also continue to increase over the next couple hours with additional development throughout the Finger Lakes.

I will have my next scheduled update at 4 PM and will continue to post roughly at the top of each hour, pending any other significant updates. I am currently working on some new code that I mentioned in the 2025 Spring Fund Drive that will eventually allow warnings to be automatically posted as a weather update like this one!
