8pm Super Bowl Halftime snow update

(null)

The Super Bowl is half over, but the snow storm for the Finger Lakes is just getting started.

Over the last 2 hours, the heavy snow has been mostly kept at bay over southwest New York. The atmosphere over the Finger Lakes is moistening though, so it is only a matter of time.

The regional radar image at the start of this post shows the scale of those storm. The green colors stretching from southwest New York back through Michigan and Chicago is heavy snow. This is our weather overnight and into Monday.

Already, a number of area schools and businesses are closed. This is a high confidence storm and accumulations over 8″ are almost a certainty. Many areas will see about a foot. The storm is behaving exactly as expected and the forecast is right in track.
