Nicer weather after a few showers Wednesday

Low pressure will drag a cold front through the Finger Lakes today with some showers and maybe a thunderstorm. Nicer weather should build in behind this front.

Early morning rain showers over western New York will cross the Finger Lakes during the mid and late morning hours, with some additional showers possible through the afternoon.

The best chance for rain, and maybe some thunder, during the afternoon will be over the eastern Finger Lakes and Central New York, while areas further west see just a couple isolated showers. This rain is associated with an area of low pressure and its cold front that will push through the region today. This is the same system that brought the showers and thunderstorms on Tuesday.

Some quieter weather should settle in behind this system. Thursday will probably end up fairly cloudy and a brief afternoon shower cannot be ruled out, especially across the Southern Tier. Otherwise though, it will be mostly dry. Temperatures Thursday will be around 70º.

The sun should come out for Friday, with no rain expected and highs into the low and mid 70s.

Saturday, July 4th, should be dry for the most part, but a couple of showers or even a light thunderstorm may try to pop up in the afternoon. Sunday, like Friday, should be mostly dry and quiet. Highs Saturday and Sunday will be in the mid and upper 70s.
