Skies this evening will clear, but will the Northern Lights shine?

Wednesday, March 29 Evening Weather Forecast Update: Audio Transcript

This is Finger Lakes Weather meteorologist Drew Montreuil with your Wednesday evening forecast update for March 29, 2017.

Fair weather clouds this afternoon will quickly dissipate this evening as the sun sets. This will leave skies perfectly clear for a couple hours before some high, thin clouds work in. However, our chances for seeing the Northern Lights may be minimal due to the waning strength of the solar storm that has been impacting Earth since Monday. Should that change, I will be sure to post an update this evening.

Otherwise, look for temperatures to fall back into the 30s tonight with upper 20s by Thursday morning. More high, thin clouds will stream in on Thursday, eventually clouding over most of the sky. A little sun will shine until late in the afternoon before rain works in Thursday evening. Have a good night!
