Nice Start to the Week

Monday will have some nice weather to start off a generally nice week.

There are some areas of fog to watch out for early this morning with temperatures starting in the 40s. The fog should burn off rapidly as the sun rises higher in the sky and temperatures warm this morning.

Sunny skies are likely for much of the day with some high, thin clouds working in during the afternoon. No precipitation is expected today.

Winds will be light and variable as high pressure passes overhead. Top gusts will only be between 10-15 mph.

Temperatures should climb just above 70 degrees for this afternoon. The average high for this time of May is around 70 degrees, so we are right on target today.

Clouds will become thicker this evening and winds will begin to pick up from the south. This should keep evening temperatures near or just below 60 degrees.

Wet Tuesday

Tuesday will be the one day this week with some active, wet weather.

The morning should start out with an area of widespread rain, and possibly some embedded thunder, moving through the area.

The rain should start before sunrise for most areas but will be heaviest between 7-10 am.

After a break in the precipitation, some scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop during the late afternoon.

Thankfully, nothing like the severe weather last Tuesday is expected, although one or two could contain some brief gusty winds.

The showers and storms will drop southeast through the region during the evening, exiting by 9 or 10 pm.

High temperatures Tuesday will reach the low 70s in the western Finger Lakes with upper 60s to the east.

Sunny and Mild

The remainder of the week is looking sunny and mild before some hot weather takes aim at our region.

Wednesday may have some lingering morning cloud cover. By the afternoon, skies should turn mostly sunny.

Clear skies should persist throughout Thursday with scarcely a cloud in sight.

By Friday, some high, thin clouds will work through the region again, but all in all, it should be a rather sunny day.

Temperatures will slowly rise over the second half of the week. Look for low 70s Wednesday, mid 70s Thursday, and upper 70s on Friday.

By the weekend, we may get a taste of summer with temperatures pushing well into the 80s along with muggy dewpoints in the 60s to near 70 degrees.

It is far too early to identify any time periods this weekend when rain and thunderstorms may be possible, but with a hot and humid air mass in place, there will likely be at least a couple of storms to dodge.
