Brush fire risk for the Finger Lakes Sunday

finger lakes weather brush fire risk sunday march 8 2020

Elevated Brush Fire Risk

There is an elevated risk for brush fires in the Finger Lakes region today.

Very dry air with humidity values between 20-35% will build into the Finger Lakes today as temperatures rise well into the 50s. South winds will gust over 20 mph at times.

This will set the stage for potential brush fires today due to the dead vegetation from last year.

Eary Spring is brush fire season in the Finger Lakes.

Outdoor burning is discouraged, even though the annual New York State Burn Ban is not yet in effect.

  1. Thank you Drew, I was thinking of doing some weed burning and had no idea. Now I won’t!
