Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect this evening

A Severe Thunderstorm WATCH is in effect for all of the Finger Lakes through the evening and into the overnight.

A line of heavy thunderstorms with a history of wind damage and hail is moving into Western NY at 7 PM. This line will cross the Finger Lakes during the mid to late evening hours.

The line should gradually weaken, but scattered damaging winds are possible in the Finger Lakes. The further west you are, the greater the chance for severe weather.

Since these storms will roll through at night, it would be prudent to prepare now by securing loose objects and having a plan for shelter in place if, say, there is a large tree outside your bedroom… just in case.
