Mid-Week Weather Forecast
An area of low pressure will move across northeastern Canada today while high pressure along the New England coast holds its ground.
As the gradient between these two opposite pressure systems increases, so too will the wind speeds over our area.
Winds will build to speed as high as 15 mph by the afternoon with gusts topping out around 30 mph. These will be south winds and will help temperatures rise.
Sunshine will be interrupted today at times by some patches of clouds. No rain is expected from any of the clouds during the daytime hours.
The mix of sun and clouds will team up with the south winds to push highs into the mid and even upper 80s today. Rochester, Dansville, the Genesee Valley may even hit 90 degrees, while a few hilltops stick to the low 80s.
Dewpoints will rise, especially later in the day, but will remain low enough to be comfortable for most. Dewpoints will reach the 60s from northwest to southeast late in the afternoon and this evening.
A few scattered showers and rumbles of thunder will pass through the area this evening and overnight. Not all areas will see rain, and those that do should generally see light amounts.
Nighttime wind speeds will back off slightly, but it will remain warm with overnight lows in the mid and upper 60s to near 70 degrees. Dewpoints will continue to rise and will be around 70 degrees for Thursday morning.
A few additional stray showers will be possible on Thursday, but they will likely be few and far between. Most areas will probably stay dry during the daytime hours.
Temperatures will be in the low and mid 80s with dewpoints falling back into the 60s during the afternoon. Winds will turn from the southwest in the morning to the northeast in the evening, but speeds will remain light.
Weekend Weather Forecast
Friday will be quiet for most of the day, but a developing low pressure center over Michigan may trigger some late showers and storms.
The timing of these storms is a bit uncertain still but looks most likely around and after sunset. The activity is expected to remain scattered, but just how numerous it becomes is also still uncertain.
Before any showers and storms, skies will be partly cloudy with highs in the mid 80s. Dewpoints will be in the 60s and will rise to around 70 overnight. Low temperatures will also be around 70 degrees.
Like Thursday’s weather, there may be a few stray showers out and about on Saturday. These should be isolated and light, nothing to cancel most outdoor plans over.
High temperatures will once again be in the mid 80s and dewpoints will fall back into the 60s or even 50s over the course of the day.
Winds will be from the southwest and a bit blustery, but not quite as strong as today.
There is a very small chance for a shower on Sunday, but the vast majority of the region will stay dry. Temperatures will take a step back with highs mostly in the upper 70s. Winds will be light from the northwest.
Quiet weather is expected on Monday and even for most of Tuesday. Late Tuesday, showers and storms will be possible.
Temperatures will return to the mid 80s both Monday and Tuesday, with low humidity on Monday but muggy conditions Tuesday.
The weather may remain unsettled for most of next week, though no particular day looks to be a washout. High temperatures will continue to be in the 80s but will generally be in the lower half of the temperature decade.

Hi Drew – any idea of how the weather will be in Auburn tonight? I’m thinking about the fireworks…thank you!
Meteorologist Drew Montreuil
While I can’t rule out a shower that early, most of them will be closer to or after midnight, so the show will probably be able to go on just fine.
