Weather Planner: Tuesday, January 13, 2026

I am testing out another new feature for FLX Weather—a Weather Planner update posted the night before and focusing solely on the next day. This update is designed to especially give early risers a quick look at the day ahead so they can plan around the weather, but can be used the night before and throughout the day.

While I am posting around 8 PM this time, usually it will be posted between 9 PM and Midnight. Typically, these will be posted Sunday night-Thursday night to cover the weekday mornings, but extending the service into the weekend may also be possible.

If you are looking for information beyond Tuesday, you can check out the post from Monday morning, or wait for Tuesday morning’s normal blog post.

I still have some details to work out—graphics, formatting, etc. As always, your ideas and feedback are welcome!

Without further ado, here is a basic version just to get the ball rolling:

    A great feature….money maker…by subscription only??

Thanks, Peter. No, I don’t use paywalls. Accessibility is one of my 3 core values. Yeah, it leaves money on the table, but all of the generous donors who freely choose to give make things work well enough.

This is an absolutely fantastic idea. Three small kids often mean chaotic mornings, so being able to have this level of detail, broken out across the day, is so helpful. Thank you!

An excellent idea, well on the way to being a very useful feature. For viewing on the mini iPad I’m using now, it would help to have less vertical spacing between the lines, so more text shows on the screen before I have to scroll down. Thanks for this improvement to your already excellent weatherman work.

I like this. Early morning local weather that is this local is hard to find and important for start of day considerations. Thanks.

Excellent addition to your wonderful weather forecast. Given the variability of CNY weather, especially when lake effect snow squalls are a daily concern, it helps greatly to have the day’s weather so carefully outlined when one is making travel plans.

Are you a weather god? You’re almost always right.
Also, if you are, can you give us a good ski snow Thursday?
