Monday
What: A few flurries
Where: Northern half of the FLX, but mainly north of I-90
Impacts: Minimal
A small weather system is passing to our north today and will likely spread a few light snow showers into the northern half of the region. The best chance for snow will be north of the Thruway, but little to no snow accumulation is expected.
Meanwhile, across the southern half of the region, occasional breaks of sunshine will become more common during the afternoon hours.
The split between clouds to the north and at least partial clearing to the south will hold into the evening and much of the overnight.
Winds will be from the southwest, a bit breezy through the morning and first part of the afternoon. Lighter winds are expected late. Wind gusts will be highest west of Canandaigua Lake, occasionally going over 30 mph.
Afternoon highs today will reach the mid 30s for most areas. Evening temperatures will only dip to the low 30s with upper 20s and low 30s overnight.
Tuesday
What: A little early sun, then clouds
Impacts: None
The daytime hours tomorrow will be simple and straightforward. After a chance for a little morning sun, clouds will increase. No precipitation is expected before sunset, though.
Winds will be from the south at around 10 mph until increasing slightly around sunset. Afternoon highs will be in the upper 30s and low 40s.
Tuesday Evening
What: A few rain showers or snow showers
Impacts: Minor
A small area of precipitation may pass through the Finger Lakes during the early evening hours (before 9 PM). Temperatures favor mostly rain falling, but some snow may fall over cooler areas. Road conditions are not expected to be impacted, but visibility could be reduced.
Evening temperatures should remain in the 35-40 degree range.
Wednesday
What: Rain showers
Impacts: Minor
Temperatures will remain mild, starting in the 35-40 degree range and peaking near or above 40 degrees for most areas.
Skies will be cloudy with rain showers possible at any time, but especially in the afternoon. Winds will be southerly, but light.
Wednesday Evening
What: Rain to snow
Impacts: Uncertain, but potentially high
Low pressure will pass by sometime Wednesday evening, turning winds to the northwest. Cold air will move in, turning rain to snow. It is not clear how quickly this will occur or how the snow potential will evolve.

Thursday
What: Potential for snow
Impacts: Uncertain, but potentially high
A relatively small area of moderate to heavy snow is expected to develop behind the low pressure center. It is unclear if this area of snow will move through the Finger Lakes or just miss the area. At most, parts of the area could see 6-12 inches of snow Wednesday night through Thursday. At a minimum, most areas should see an inch or two. Stay tuned.
Regardless, temperatures will fall, spending most of the daytime hours Thursday in the 10s with wind chills in the single digits to near 0.
Friday
What: A few flurries, mainly early… chilly.
Impacts: Minor
Northwest winds early Friday will probably bring some limited lake effect snow into the area during the morning. By midday, winds will be turning more southerly, removing the snow from the area.
Despite the turn to southerly winds, it will remain cold with highs struggling into the low and mid 20s.
Weekend
Scattered snow showers look possible throughout the weekend. Significant snow accumulations look unlikely, though. The details of when and where the snow will be most likely are unclear at this time.
Temperatures may get a small bump to near 30 on Saturday before a reinforcing shot of cold comes in Sunday and persists into next week.
