Slightly less-cold air will build into the area today with quite a bit of sunshine once lingering lake effect departs during the morning.

Early Morning (3-7 AM)

Mostly cloudy, but with some breaks in the clouds.

A few stray snow showers.

Northwest winds 5-10 mph.

Temperatures mainly steady from the overnight, ranging from the mid 0s to the low 10s with a few colder pockets.

Morning (7-11 AM)

Clouds linger to the northeast, while sun takes over elsewhere

A few snow showers, mainly over Wayne, Cayuga, and Onondaga counties.

West-Northwest winds 5-10 mph.

Temperatures rising to the low and mid 10s.

Midday (11 AM-1 PM)

Sunshine continues to take over, except perhaps in the far northeast.

A few last flurries over Onondaga county.

West and West-Northwest winds 5-10 mph.

Temperatures rising to near or slightly above 20 degrees.

Afternoon (1-4 PM)

Mostly sunny. Maybe a few last clouds near or north of Syracuse.

No precipitation expected.

West and West-Northwest winds around 5 mph.

Temperatures peak in the low and mid 20s.

Late Afternoon (4-6 PM)

Sunny with some thin, high clouds moving in, possibly making for a colorful sunset for some.

No precipitation expected.

West winds under 5 mph.

Temperatures quickly drop to the mid and upper 10s.

Evening (6-10 PM)

Early thin clouds gradually becoming widespread and thicker.

No precipitation expected.

Southwest winds around 5 mph.

Temperatures drop to the upper 0s and low 10s, but then level out.

Overnight (11 PM-3 AM)

Mostly to completely cloudy.

Maybe a stray snow shower well after midnight in the western half of the region.

Southwest winds around 5 mph.

Temperatures rising back to the low and mid 10s, except for some lingering pockets of single digits in parts of Cortland, Tioga, and possibly Tompkins counties.
