Wednesday

What: Occasional rain.

Impacts: Generally none, but maybe a slick spot early and possibly some ice jam flooding concerns.

Precipitation will move north into the area during the predawn hours. This will mostly be rain, but a few pockets of freezing rain cannot be ruled out, mostly in Cayuga, Tompkins, Cortland, and Onondaga counties. Any frozen precipitation should turn to all rain quickly after sunrise.

The rain will come and go throughout the day, averaging out across the region at around a half-inch of rainfall. Localized ice jam flooding could become a concern.

Winds will remain light with temperatures topping out around 40 degrees.

Friday

What: Afternoon & Evening precipitation, type uncertain

Impacts: Uncertain

Some blustery southeast winds will be possible. Highs will reach the mid and upper 30s.

Saturday

What: Morning snow showers, then some sun

Lingering snow showers will be possible on Saturday in the morning, even if most of the precipitation Friday and Friday night ends up as rain. Little to no additional accumulation is expected, and sunshine should increase during the afternoon.

Temperatures will start to decline with highs in the low and mid 30s with a steady northwest wind.

Sunday-Tuesday

What: Quiet and cool

Impacts: None

Generally dry weather is expected from Sunday through Tuesday next week, thanks to a large high pressure system from Canada. This system will also bring temperatures down, with daily highs mostly in the 20s.

Looking Beyond

The cool air will only stay for a short visit, with the latter part of next week seeing a return of 30s and possibly 40s. However, the exact temperatures are quite uncertain still, with a large spread of possibility showing on the models.
