Weather systems on Wednesday and Friday will spread rain and some wintry precipitation into the area, as well as the potential for some ice jams on some rivers. Overall impacts from both systems should be low.
Tuesday
What: Clouds, some afternoon sun
Impacts: Air quality concerns for sensitive groups
Today will be quiet with no precipitation expected. Morning clouds are locked in place, but may be able to burn off for the afternoon, allowing for some sunshine. Warm air riding over the cooler, snow-covered surface is also keeping the near-surface air stagnant, leading to decreased air quality.
Many areas will be well into the 40s today, especially if the sun manages to come out in a substantial manner. Winds will be light.

Wednesday
What: Periods of rain with some ice along and north of I-90
Impacts: Low (ice), Minor (ice jam flooding)
A weather system will bring waves of precipitation through the Finger Lakes on Wednesday. This should start with showers in the pre-dawn hours, then turn steadier for the morning and afternoon.
The best chance for freezing rain will be in pockets along and north of the Thruway during the morning hours. A light glaze may make some travel slick and untreated surfaces will be slippery. Temperatures should be right around freezing in these areas and climbing above freezing during the morning hours. Most plain rain is expected throughout the area in the afternoon.
Rain amounts will be around or over a half an inch, which may lead to some ice jams on some streams and rivers. This could lead to some localized flooding concerns.
Winds will remain light and variable. Temperatures will be warmest in the Southern Tier, where mid 40s are possible. North of I-90, mid 30s will be as warm as it gets.
Thursday
What: Clouds, some sun
Impacts: None
Like today, Thursday will be quiet and cloudy with a chance for some breaks of afternoon sun. Winds will once again be light and variable, with temperatures warmer in the south and cooler in the north, with highs averaging out around 40 degrees.
Friday
What: Mixed precipitation
Impacts: Uncertain
Like Wednesday, another weather system will roll in during the morning hours with a mix of precipitation types. Over time, most areas should turn to rain. The fine details of this system remain too distant to resolve, so continue to monitor the forecast for updates over the coming days.
Winds will likely pick up from the southeast, but should not be too strong.
Weekend
What: A bit cooler, some flurries
Impacts: Minor, if any
Temperatures will take a step back this weekend with highs in the mid 30s Saturday and low 30s Sunday.
Saturday looks dry, while Sunday may have a few snow showers. No accumulation is expected at this time.
Next Week
The weather pattern next week looks active with the potential for multiple systems to impact the area. The strength and timing of these remain uncertain, but the pattern will need to be monitored just in case pieces come together for a larger system.
Temperatures will start the week chilly, with the core of the cold air moving through on Tuesday. Highs Tuesday may struggle to reach 20 and morning lows may dip into the single digits. For the latter half of the week, however, afternoon highs should return to the 30s.
