Another weather system will move through the area on Friday with steady rain in the morning and a few pockets of wintry mix. Rain will taper for showers for a time during the midday and afternoon, but precipitation will increase again around sunset as it turns over to snow. Only minor evening accumulations are expected, but a few slick roads will be possible.

Early Morning (3-7 AM)

Cloudy. Areas of fog.

Scattered rain showers with some patchy freezing rain, sleet, snow, or a mix of any combination thereof.

Southeast winds around 15 mph.

Temperatures mainly in the mid 30s, but with some colder pockets near or just below freezing.

Morning (7-11 AM)

Cloudy. Areas of fog.

Steady rain, tapering to showers late.

Southeast winds 15-20 mph. Higher elevation gusts of 30-40 mph.

Temperatures in the mid and upper 30s.

Midday (11 AM-1 PM)

Cloudy.

On and off rain showers.

Southeast winds 15-20 mph. Higher elevation gusts of 30-40 mph.

Temperatures rising to the upper 30s and low 40s, with some lingering mid 30s along and east of I-81.

Afternoon (1-4 PM)

Mostly cloudy. Maybe a brief glimpse of some sun.

A bit of a lull in precipitation, but still some scattered rain showers.

Southeast winds around 15 mph.

Most areas between 40-45 degrees, but with some cooler pockets.

Late Afternoon (4-6 PM)

Cloudy.

Increasing chances for rain, changing to snow late across the western Finger Lakes.

South winds around 10 mph, turning to the west late.

Temperatures dropping to the upper 30s and low 40s.

Evening (6-10 PM)

Cloudy.

Areas of snow, especially in the northern and eastern halves of the region. A few snowy roads, but minor accumulations.

Southwest winds at 5-10 mph, slightly stronger in the western fringes of the region.

Temperatures dropping to the low and mid 30s.

Overnight (11 PM-3 AM)

Cloudy.

Some scattered snow showers.

West-southwest winds around 10 mph.

Temperatures drop slightly, but mainly stay in the low and mid 30s.
