Lake effect snow will slowly retreat to the northeast this morning, then fall apart as winds turn to the west, then southwest. Temperatures will be cool with afternoon highs between 20-25º. Evening temperatures will fall into the 10s before increasing into the 20s overnight as south winds kick up. A period of snow is likely during the middle of the night with a quick 1-3 inches.

Early Morning (3-7 AM)

Cloudy.

Areas of snow, especially across Wayne, Cayuga, Seneca, Tompkins, Cortland, and Onondaga counties. Locally an inch or two of accumulation.

Northwest winds around 15 mph.

Temperatures in the low and mid 10s.

Morning (7-11 AM)

Cloudy.

Snow retreating to Wayne, northern Cayuga, and Onondaga counties. Additional accumulations under an inch.

Northwest winds at 10-15 mph.

Temperatures in the low and mid 10s.

Midday (11 AM-1 PM)

Cloudy.

Lingering snow across far eastern Wayne, northern Cayuga, and northern Onondaga counties. Little to no accumulation.

Northwest winds around 10 mph and slowly turning a bit more westerly.

Temperatures rising to the mid and upper 10s.

Afternoon (1-4 PM)

Cloudy. A few breaks of sun possible late.

No precipitation expected.

West winds at 5-10 mph.

Temperatures mainly between 20-25 degrees with a few upper 10s in the East.

Late Afternoon (4-6 PM)

Mostly cloudy with a few breaks of sun before sunset.

No precipitation expected.

South and southwest winds around or under 5 mph.

Temperatures dropping to 15-20 degrees.

Evening (6-10 PM)

Cloudy.

No precipitation expected.

South and southeast winds with speeds returning to around 10 mph.

Temperatures steady in the mid 10s east of Cayuga Lake, but rising to the low and even mid 20s elsewhere.

Overnight (11 PM-3 AM)

Cloudy.

An area of widespread, heavier snow, lasting for just a couple hours. Accumulations of 1-3 inches.

South winds at 10-15 mph.

Temperatures mainly rising to the mid 20s with a few warmer and cooler pockets.
