Warming temperatures on Saturday will lead to some late showers and perhaps thunderstorms as a cold front comes through. Sunday will be cooler, but still plenty mild. Warm weather will move right back in early next week before temperatures turn cool again late in the week.
Friday
What: Mostly cloudy. Some drizzle early.
A frontal boundary will be over the area Friday, allowing warm air to push into the western areas of the region. Further east, it will be notably cooler. Clouds will be plentiful and a little drizzle will be possible this morning. Winds will be light from the southeast, but will turn blustery tonight as they turn more southerly.

Saturday
What: Sun and clouds. Late showers, a few storms.
Impacts: Some storms may contain strong winds, even if lightning is minimal.
South and southwest winds will remain a bit blustery on Saturday, but should not be quite as strong as Friday night. These winds will push most areas into the 60s. A few warm pockets, such as Dansville, could push toward 70 degrees, especially if the sun works its way out to a significant degree.
The best chance for rain will come during the evening hours, but a few afternoon stray showers cannot be ruled out, either. Some thunderstorms may develop during the evening along the cold front. Lightning may not be overly frequent, but some strong winds or even a little hail cannot be ruled out.
Sunday
What: Morning clouds, afternoon sun
Winds will briefly turn westerly behind the front Saturday night, but will be back to the southwest by midday Sunday. Wind speeds will be around 10 mph. It will be cooler than Saturday, but still mild, with most areas getting between 50-55 degrees.
Clouds will be plentiful during the morning, but the afternoon should turn mostly sunny. No precipitation is expected.
Monday
What: Sunny and warm
Impacts: Some brushfire risk
A warm, dry airmass with steady southwest winds will build in for Monday. Temperatures should make it back into the 60s under mostly sunny skies. Relative humidity values will drop to near or under 30%. This type of set up at this time of year is classic for an increased brush fire risk, even with the recent rainfall and snowmelt. Use due caution and common sense.
Tuesday
What: Some late showers
Tuesday will see an increase in clouds and some afternoon showers. A couple rumbles of thunder cannot be ruled out. Temperatures will still be near or above 60 degrees, but probably not as warm as Monday. Winds will be notably lighter than the period from Friday night through Monday.
Wednesday
What: Rain
Impacts: End of the warm weather
A cold front will make its way through the area on Wednesday. The details of the rain that is expected are uncertain this far in advance, as are the details of how the temperature will change through the day.
Late Next Week into the Following Week
By Thursday, cold air will return to the region with highs in the 30s. The forecast currently looks sunny, but there is also a path to a snowy day should low pressure develop along Wednesday’s front in just the right place. Cold weather and chances for snow will continue through next weekend and into the following week. While not bitterly cold, daily highs in the 25 to 35 degree range are expected well into the latter half of March.
