The Finger Lakes region will be impacted by part of a large, powerful storm system on Monday. Warm and windy conditions will lead to some afternoon thunderstorms, followed by crashing temperatures and snow during the evening hours. Both severe thunderstorms and accumulating snowfall are possible, coming only several hours apart.

Early Morning (3-7 AM)
Clouds with a few breaks.
Maybe a stray shower.
South-southeast winds at 20-25 mph. Wind gusts of 40-50 mph.
Temperatures rising into the upper 40s and low 50s.
Morning (7-11 AM)
Clouds and a few breaks of sun.
Maybe a stray shower.
South-southeast winds around 20 mph. Wind gusts of 30-40 mph.
Temperatures rising to the upper 50s and low 60s.
Midday (11 AM-1 PM)
Clouds and a few breaks of sun.
Maybe a stray shower.
South-southeast winds around 20 mph. Wind gusts of 35-45 mph.
Temperatures in the low and mid 60s.
Afternoon (1-5 PM)
Clouds and a few breaks of sun.
Increasing chances for showers and thunderstorms, especially late. Any thunderstorms will have the potential for strong winds.
South winds 20-25 mph, turning west late over the western Finger Lakes with speeds dropping to 10-15 mph. Wind gusts of 35-45 mph, but higher in any thunderstorms with a potential for tree damage.
Temperatures ranging through the 60s, but dropping to the 30s in about 20 minutes from west to east over the western half of the region.
Late Afternoon (5-7 PM)
Mostly cloudy.
Thunderstorms transitioning to widespread rain. Some mixed precipitation west.
Winds becoming westerly at around 10 mph. Wind gusts of 35-45 mph, but higher in any thunderstorms with a potential for tree damage.
Temperatures dropping from the 60s to 30s in about 20 minutes from west to east across the rest of the region.
Evening (7-10 PM)
Mostly cloudy.
Rain turning to snow, heavy at times. Possibly some sleet during the transition. Several inches of accumulation possible, especially over higher elevations.
West winds turning southwest around 10 mph.
Temperatures dropping to the low and mid 30s.
Overnight (11 PM-3 AM)
Clouds with a few breaks.
Widespread snow transitioning to snow showers.
Southwest winds increasing to around 15 mph. Gusts of 30-40 mph.
Temperatures continuing to fall, reaching the low and mid 20s.
