A large area of high pressure extends across the Northeast and Midwest and will be our dominant weather feature for the next few days. Rain is not expected until a few stray showers late Sunday with a better chance Monday and especially Tuesday. Temperatures will warm into the 80s by the weekend but with humidity levels remaining low until a slight increase next week.
Dry weather and warming temperatures over the fire regions of Canada and Minnesota could lead to a resurgence in fire weather. It is not clear yet when or if smoke will become an issue locally again.

Thursday
What: Sunny, a few clouds
Sunshine will be plentiful on Thursday. A few thin clouds and a couple small fair weather clouds in the afternoon will be it as far as cloud cover. Highs will be in the mid 70s with very low dewpoints in the lower half of the 50s or even upper 40s. The night sky should remain clear with overnight lows ranging through the 50s. Winds will be light from the northwest during the day, then calm during the night.
Friday
What: Sun and clouds
Friday will bring more of the same with sunny skies, some thin clouds, and low humidity. Temperatures will rise to around 80 degrees as winds turn lightly from the south. South winds will become a bit better established Friday night, holding lows around 60 degrees.
Saturday
What: Sun and clouds
Dry weather is expected to persist into Saturday with a mix of sun and clouds. Temperatures will add several more degrees for highs in the low and locally mid 80s. Dewpoints will remain comfortable, but will rise slightly to the upper half of the 50s. Winds will be from the south around 5 mph.
Sunday
What: Maybe a late shower
For the most part, Sunday will also be dry and sunny. There may be a few stray showers late in the day, but it looks like most areas will not see any rain at all. Temperatures will stabilize in the low 80s. Dewpoints will increase into the low 60s. Winds will be light and variable.
Monday
What: A few showers, storms
Monday will have some scattered showers and storms. Most of the day will probably be dry for any given location, and some areas will not see any rain at all. Temperatures will remain in the low 80s with dewpoints in the mid 60s.
Tuesday
What: Scattered thunderstorms
Tuesday will have the highest chance for rain over the next week with showers and thunderstorms. Of course, nearly a week out, the details remain highly unclear and uncertain. Temperatures will likely be in the mid 70s with dewpoints in the mid and upper 60s.
Wednesday
What: Sun and clouds.
A new area of high pressure will start to build in, bringing sun and clouds behind Tuesday’s weather system. Temperatures will be cooler, with highs in the low and mid 70s. Dewpoints will fall to around 60. A steady northwest wind is likely.
Late Next Week
A dry day or two will be possible before unsettled weather returns toward the weekend with showers and thunderstorms possible. Temperatures will remain in the 70s.
