There will be several chances for thunderstorms on Wednesday, ranging from the morning hours through the overnight. Any storm may be severe with damaging winds the primary threat, but the evening and overnight could have the potential for widespread severe storms. Uncertainty remains high, however, with many subtle variables at play. The storm potential will be fueled by another day of very high humidity with temperatures ranging from the mid 80s to the west to around 80 degrees in the east as one or more waves of atmospheric energy pass through.

Early Morning (3-7 AM)

Cloudy.

A few showers and thunderstorms, possibly severe.

South winds around 5 mph.

Temperatures mainly in the upper 60s.

Morning (7-11 AM)

Cloudy.

A few showers and thunderstorms, possibly severe.

South winds around 10 mph.

Temperatures rise to the mid 70s.

Midday (11 AM-1 PM)

Mostly cloudy.

Mainly dry. Maybe a stray shower early.

South winds around 10 mph.

Temperatures range from the mid 70s along and east of I-81 to the low 80s in the northwestern Finger Lakes.

Afternoon (1-5 PM)

Clouds, a little sun.

Mainly dry into the mid-afternoon, then scattered showers and storms developing, possibly severe.

South winds around 10 mph.

Temperatures range from the mid and upper 70s in the eastern hills to the mid 80s in the Genesee Valley. Most areas somewhere around or slightly over 80 degrees.

Late Afternoon (5-7 PM)

Clouds, a little sun.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms, possibly severe.

South winds around 10 mph.

Temperatures range from the mid 70s to low 80s, with most areas between 75-80 degrees.

Evening (7-11 PM)

Cloudy.

Uncertain potential for a line of severe thunderstorms with damaging winds and localized flash flooding.

South winds 10-15 mph.

Temperatures in the low and mid 70s.

Overnight (11 PM-3 AM)

Cloudy.

Uncertain potential for a line of severe thunderstorms with damaging winds and localized flash flooding.

South winds 10-15 mph.

Temperatures in the low 70s.

Thursday Preview

Gradually increasing sunshine. Perhaps a lingering shower early. A bit less humid, but still muggy. Highs in the upper 70s.
