Showers and thunderstorms are increasing across the Southern Tier and northern Pennsylvania this afternoon.

Lightning and heavy rain will be the primary concern from these storms, but some locally strong winds cannot be totally ruled out. Earlier storms did have some localized wind damage and even a little hail to our southeast, and there is currently a small flash flood warning in northern PA. At time of publication, there were no alerts in the FLX.

The storm motion is a bit chaotic given light winds in the atmosphere as a whole. Overall, the broader area of unsettled weather is drifting northward. Individual storm cells, however, may track anywhere from nearly due north, northeast, east, or even toward the southeast.

Expect a continued increase in storm coverage and northward extent into the FLX during the late afternoon and evening hours. On and off showers and storms will persist overnight, possibly becoming widespread at times, but should mostly be out of the area by Tuesday morning.
