Flood Advisory

The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued a
* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
Cortland County in central New York...
Northwestern Chenango County in central New York...
* Until 445 AM EDT.
* At 145 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding in
the advisory area. Between two to three inches of rain have
already fallen.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Cortland, Homer, Virgil, Solon, Cincinnatus, McGraw, Pitcher,
Pharsalia, Taylor and Lincklaen.
Additional rainfall of around 1 inch is expected over the area. This
additional rain will result in minor flooding.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
