As I indicated in my 5 PM update, I was particularly worried about the Cayuga/Onondaga county line and southeastern Cayuga County.

After that update, a Flash Flood Warning was issued. That was since updated to add the “Flash Flood Damage Threat: Considerable” tag to the warning. On my radar program, this results in the usually green flood warning gaining a red outline.

Flooding has already been reported near Niles.

An additional Flash Flood Warning has also been issued for the Weedsport and Cato areas just north of the serious warning.

Here is the text of the warning:

…FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 815 PM EDT THIS
EVENING FOR SOUTHEASTERN CAYUGA AND SOUTHWESTERN ONONDAGA COUNTIES…

At 534 PM EDT, local law enforcement reported thunderstorms
producing heavy rain across the warned area, especially across the
Moravia and Skaneateles areas. Between 1.5 and 3 inches of rain has
already fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly.

This will take the place of my 6 pm update.

Also, I continue to work on some code to automatically post warning updates. There is a way to go fixing bugs with the zoom level and formatting.. and the end product will look a fair bit different… but here is an early prototype of the warning when it was first issued:
