A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for most of the Finger Lakes region. While the watch as a whole, which extends east into New England, is in effect until 10 PM, I would expect the Finger Lakes to be cut from the watch no later than 8 PM as storms move east.
A broken line of showers and thunderstorms is developing across the northwestern Finger Lakes. There should be further strengthening of this over the next 1-3 hours as it moves through the Finger Lakes.
The main risk will be for isolated to scattered damaging wind gusts and perhaps some hail. Frequent lightning will also be possible.
As a reminder, new warnings will automatically be posted on the FLXweather.com homepage and blog posts! This post may also be occasionally updated to include a graphic with more recent radar imagery.
