The Storm Prediction Center is monitoring an area from the Finger Lakes west and southwest for a potential severe thunderstorm watch in the next few hours.

The chance of a watch being issued is set at 60%.

Isolated to scattered instances of damaging winds and large hail continue to be possible, especially during the second half of the afternoon and early evening hours.

Already, there are a few isolated showers and storms about, including a cell that prompted a severe thunderstorm warning for the Rochester metro area.

As a reminder, watches are issued for many hours over large areas to indicate the potential for severe weather. Warnings are issued for small areas and short time spans to address ongoing severe weather from particular storm cells.

Continue to monitor this space through the afternoon for updates, including any watches that are issued.
