Soggy Tuesday Forecast

Tuesday’s forecast for the Finger Lakes is looking soggy as low pressure moves across the region. This low is centered over western New York, with the bulk of its precipitation just to the east of the low over the Finger Lakes.

These showers are only slowly spinning around the low, so many areas will remain locked in the showers throughout the morning.

As the low begins to redevelop over the Mid-Atlantic, the focal point for showers will shift a bit further southeast. A little thunder is even possible this afternoon from roughly Bath-Penn Yan-Auburn and areas south and east.

Cool Temperatures

With the showers and clouds hanging around throughout the day, temperatures will not have much reason to rise a whole lot. Many places were in the upper 40s to near 50º this morning, but temperatures will only rise 5-10º today for highs in the mid 50s.

Our temperatures should be in the upper 50s for this time of the year, so today’s temperatures will be just slightly below normal. Overnight lows will be in the low and mid 40s, which is actually slightly above normal.

Brief Break Wednesday Before More Rain

On Wednesday, the low pressure should be far enough away to not have much of an impact on us. There is still a small chance for a shower both very early and very late in the day, but generally the weather will be fair on Wednesday with a mix of sun and clouds.

Temperatures Wednesday will be a bit cooler as cold air gets sucked into the low from Canada, moving over the Finger Lakes in the process.

As the low drifts north, more rain is likely on Thursday and Friday.
