Showery Monday in FLX: Feel Blessed

A cold front will sweep through the Finger Lakes on Monday- but it could be so much worse.

Showers and a few thunderstorms should develop along the front and make for a showery afternoon. None of the rain should be overly heavy, and severe thunderstorms are not expected. All in all, it will just be a bit of a showery day.

And I feel very blessed for the showers and lack of threatening weather.

Meanwhile, the western part of the country is on fire. Drought conditions, which are far more widespread than just in California, have turned into a very bad fire season. Not only are forests- and homes- being burned, but a number of firefighters have lost their lives in the line of duty.

Even those not directly threatened by fire have to deal with extremely poor air quality due to the smoke.

The following video is from a fire in north-central Washington that has already killed 3 firefighters and evacuated at least 2 towns.

We in the Finger Lakes are so blessed to not have to deal with huge fires, frequent strong tornadoes, or direct hits from hurricanes. In fact, over 99% of the time, our weather is really going to be pretty tranquil compared to some of the extremes other areas see.

So let’s start the week off thankful for a coolish, showery day.
