If the recent stretch of hot, dry weather was not your idea of nice weather, perhaps Thursday will be better.
Cooler temperatures and some rain showers are in place across the Finger Lakes and will persist throughout Thursday. Unfortunately though, the rain that does fall will be very light and drizzly, making little impact on the region’s dry spell.
Low pressure over the Mid-Atlantic is moving northeast along the front the moved through the Finger Lakes on Wednesday. To the northwest of this low, an area of light rain showers across Pennsylvania is moving into the Finger Lakes and Central New York. These showers will continue to move northeast throughout the day.
The overall area of rain should intensify throughout the day, but mostly over eastern Pennsylvania, southeast New York and into New England. Still, a period of light, steady rain is possible for the eastern half of the Finger Lakes while dryer air works into the west.
Temperatures today will be mostly in the upper 60s further east, while areas to the west reach the low 70s.
Some sun will come out on Friday, with temperatures in the 70s, but additional clouds from a new weather system will develop during the later half of the day.
