Very Little Rain Wednesday

Rainfall today across the Finger Lakes will be meager for the majority of the region.

A cold front will spread showers across the area, especially this morning. The radar at 7:30 this morning showed an area of light, but widespread showers pushing into western New York just behind the cold front.

These showers will move east-southeast into the Finger Lakes by the mid-morning hours. However, some weakening and breaking up of the showers is anticipated. As a result, scattered showers should be expected across the Finger Lakes this morning.

Some areas may see little more than a few drips of rain. At most, some areas could manage a tenth to a quarter of an inch, but most areas will only see a few hundredths of an inch of rain.

By the midday hours, the remaining showers should be pushing east of the Finger Lakes as they continue to dissipate. Nothing more than a spot of drizzle should be expected for the afternoon and evening hours.

Cooler Temperatures Return

With the passage of the cold front this morning, temperatures will rise very little during the day today. Temperatures may rise into the low 70s before the front moves through, especially for the eastern and southern Finger Lakes.

Behind the front, temperatures will retreat into the upper 60s, where they will remain for much of the afternoon.

Skies will clear tonight, allowing some of the coldest overnight temperatures we have seen since spring. Temperatures could drop as far as the low 40s in some of the colder area, and someone sneaking down to 39 or 38 degrees is not out of the question.

Thursday will be fairly sunny with high temperatures mostly in the upper 60s.

Weekend Preview

After a pleasant day on Friday, the weekend, at this point, is looking a bit unsettled as a storm system moves through. At this point, much of Saturday may turn out dry with temperatures pushing well into the 80s.

The storm system will approach Saturday evening, with showers and thunderstorms possible overnight.

The chances for rain will likely continue through Sunday as the storm system only slowly progresses east.

Rainfall amounts are uncertain at this time, but could turn out to be beneficial.
