Pleasant Start to the Week
Clouds and a few showers are around the Finger Lakes Monday morning as the storm system that moved through on Sunday pulls away.
Any precipitation that does fall this morning should be quite light.
Temperatures will rise from the 50s this morning into the upper 60s for a couple hours this afternoon. A cold front late in the day will drop temperatures back into the upper 50s before the sun sets.
The sun should work out this afternoon, though a band of clouds will be likely along the front this evening. Skies should turn mostly clear again overnight as temperatures drop back into the 40s.
Tuesday and Wednesday both look sunny and mild, with near normal highs in the low 70s.
Rain Returns Thursday
The next storm system will approach the Finger Lakes from the southwest Wednesday night.
Clouds out ahead of this system may start to increase later Wednesday afternoon, but most of the cloud cover should work in after the sun sets.
Rain will move in from southwest to northeast after midnight Wednesday night. By dawn Thursday, most of the area should be seeing some rain showers.
Periods of rain will continue off and on throughout Thursday.
A couple of rumbles of thunder may be possible, but at this time, widespread thunderstorms do not seem likely. Strong to severe storms are also very unlikely.
Showers will linger into Friday as the storm system lifts off to the northeast through eastern Canada. The rain Friday should be more scattered and lighter compared to Thursday. A little late day sun may even be possible.
Temperatures both Thursday and Friday will be cool with the clouds and rain. Look for highs in the low 60s, which is about 10 degrees below normal for this time of the year.
