Nice Weather Tuesday
The weather will be quiet and calm on Tuesday with ample sunshine and warm temperatures.
Behind the clear, blue skies and mild temperatures, a complex weather pattern will be unfolding.
High pressure moving into Eastern Canada will keep control of our weather today.
Less humid air will try to push in from the north ahead of this high. At the same time, a tropical air mass associated with the remains of Alberto will be moving north towards the Great Lakes region.
So, while the high pressure system will keep skies sunny and precipitation free today, there will still be a bit of mugginess in the air.
Temperatures are starting off the day in the 60s with some areas of fog in the typically summer-fog prone areas.
Any fog should quickly burn off, leaving mostly sunny skies with just a few small fair weather clouds this afternoon.
Highs should reach the low 80s. A gentle north wind will bring in cooler air off of Lake Ontario, keeping the lake counties in the 70s. Dew points today will be in the low 60s, which is a touch muggy, but not uncomfortable for most.
Tropical Air
Overnight tonight, the dry Canadian air will make a push towards the Finger Lakes. Dewpoints could drop into the 40s for a brief time in the northeastern Finger Lakes.
However, south winds on Wednesday will bring the humidity right back, with dewpoints in the mid and upper 60s by the afternoon.
Skies will be sunny again on Wednesday. The sunshine and south winds will also boost the temperatures up, making for a hot, humid afternoon.
Upper 80s are likely in the afternoon along and north of I-90 where it is typically warmest. Mid 80s are likely for most of the rest of the area except for some low 80s in the higher elevations of the Southern Tier and Central New York.
Thanks to the humid air, heat index values could sneak into the low 90s for the warmest areas, such as Rochester.
Some isolated showers may be possible Wednesday night into Thursday with a better chance for thunderstorms on Friday.
Both Thursday and Friday will also be warm and muggy.
Cool Down for Early June
The chances for rain will remain into the weekend, though how exactly it all unfolds is uncertain at this point.
What does seem likely is a decrease in temperatures for the early part of June.
By the weekend, high temperatures should retreat back into the 60s. A day with highs in the 50s could be possible if enough cloud cover and rain unfolds.
For the first full week of June, temperatures look as though they will remain below normal. Most days at this early juncture look to have highs in the 60s.
Thankfully, despite the cooler high temperatures, there does not appear to be any late frost risk at this point.

How does the morning of June 2nd look in terms of rain?
Thank you!
Meteorologist Drew Montreuil
Uncertain in timing and coverage. Probably at least scattered on and off showers. There is at least some chance for a steadier rain though.
